Velocix Video - Windows Media Streaming
Including support for Microsoft Sliverlight
Windows Media is an extremely popular format for on-line video, especially for services that require content security. Microsoft DRM allows content owners to apply an encryption layer to their content that prevents redistribution. The Velocix Video - Windows Media Streaming service provides full support for streams protected with Microsoft DRM. With Microsoft Silverlight, Windows Media format streams can also be viewed on leading non-Windows based client platforms.
Velocix has rolled out Windows Media Server technology throughout its network to provide SD and HD quality video to anywhere in the world. This includes both on-demand and live streaming.
With Windows Media Streaming, no copy of the video is stored on the end user's computer, offering enhanced copy protection over video downloads where the file is written to disk. Advanced controls are also provided that enable forward and backward seeking at any time during playback.
Windows Media Servers are deployed within the Velocix Digital Delivery Network and support all forms of streaming:
- - Live: One off events and live broadcasts
- - Simulated Live: Live stream of pre-recorded content
- - On Demand: On demand playback of pre-recorded content
